The Pleiades, 'The Seven Sisters', was in Antiquity perceived as
being associated with
blessing, and was hailed by the great writers - including Moses, who
in all tradition had
the authorship of the biblical "Book of Job" in which these stars
also are highlighted.
There is interesting
information about the stars and their cosmic-spatial positional
arrangement
to be found
in Patañjali's Yoga
Sutras, III book, sutras 25-31. The
contents of these sutras were also seen in relation to the body as a micro-cosmic build structure - in particular with the heart
associated with the Sun and the cosmic space.
The highlighted paragraphs of Patañjali's Yoga Sutras
mention a particular focus on the Polar star (current North Star)
and a reference to the Turtle star, in India called Kurma. This is
heaven’s number three most bright stars, known as Vega in the
constellation Lyra. The turtle was, as one of the top centres in the
sky, known in Egypt, India and China - and among the Greeks. Vega,
the Turtle star Kurma is, and was, the real North star as the top
pole of the World-axis.
Ideas about
the body reflecting the cosmos, a mini-universe, was widespread
particularly among cultic initiated and in therapeutic schools all
over in Antiquity. In the system e.g. the backbone can be seen as an
individual mini-copy of the World-axis (and in which the turtle
centre, the thyroid gland, is located high up, 'like Vega').

25
By intensive
meditation (samyama) on the brilliant light the one who is
practising this yoga achieves knowledge of the subtle, hidden or
the distance.
The classic commentary texts deepening the meaning of this sutra 25
reads:
The bright light is of the heart and is attached to the central
organ ('the mind').
26
By intensive
meditation (samyama) at the Sun the one who is practicing
this yoga achieves knowledge of the cosmic space.
The classic commentary texts deepening the meaning of this sutra 25
reads:
Of these cosmic spaces (bhuvana) there are seven: bhu-local
(Earthen-world), antariksa (interstellar space), mahendra, mahar
prâjâta, jana, tapas, and satya. The last five are the fivefold
celestial world (svar-loca), and of these the last three are
Brahma worlds. Hoovering in series there are six regions of the
large hell (mahâ-naraka). Hereafter seven lower worlds in
addition to which the Earth comes as the number eight. The
discarnated ('temporary non-incarnated') are not in these worlds but
in a state of (temporary) release or 'isolation' - an apparent
presence.

By intensive
meditation (samyama) on the Moon the one who is practising
this yoga achieve knowledge of the stellar placements.
28
By intensive
meditation (samyama) on the Moon the one who is practising
this yoga achieve knowledge of the celestial bodies’ movements.
29
By intensive
meditation (samyama) on the navel centre the one who is
practising this yoga achieve knowledge of body’s composition.
30
By intensive
meditation (samyama) in the throat the one who is practising
this yoga obtains stopping hunger and thirst.
31
By intensive
meditation (samyama) on kurma-nadi the one who is practising
this yoga obtains being motionless.
The classic commentary texts deepening the meaning of this sutra 31
reads:
Kurma-nadi (turtle-'nerve' - gland) on location in the chest under
the throat. A 'mental nerve' which is considered to be active in the
animals (the bear, for example) hibernating and wintering in a
motionless state.

On Patañjali's Yoga Sutras
The work, the
'Yoga Sutras', is structured into 4 sections or books with a total
of 195 lessons. It is connected to a knowledge base of ancient
India, the special Vedanta-doctrins in the works of the Upanishads.
The 'Yoga Sutras', written down in Sanskrit 2,300 years ago by the
seer Patañjali, is considered to be all yoga’s foundation.
Yoga
has in recent times in the West mostly been known as a practice of
producing self-control, mind-balance, and physical-bodily harmony.
From its origins in ancient India’s world of ideas yoga is conceived
as a non-theoretical philosophy.
Yoga
philosophy is seen as a system that can be used via intelligent way
to accelerate a person's development towards a spiritual level for a
liberation - a doctrine on which, inter alia, Buddhism also based
its methods. The system has been used through many thousands of
years and, along, been completed in its present form, a few hundred
years before Christian era.
The Samkhya-yoga philosophy cosmology
In India's
oldest religious texts, the Vedas recorded more than 3,000 years
ago, tracks appear leading to integrate in the later known yoga. The
later Vedanta-writings’ branches, the Upanishads, opening
still more for the philosophy and, hereafter, for a systematic
cosmology, Sâmkhya. The yoga uses Sâmkhya-philosophy’s cosmology,
established by the sage Kapila ca. 3,000 years ago, while yoga was
established in its final system by Pantañjali for about 2,300 years
ago.
Pantañjali's Yoga Sutras recognized for their inestimable
value as a marked off map of the mind’s 'terra incognita'. This is
because in them there are gathered and systematized all practical
principles, which mentioned to provide in reality methods for the
most of the hitherto forms of self-realization having spiritual
development in the liberation as a goal.
Yoga
is not a religion, does not missionizing, and contains no moral
prejudices, but is a universal ideology on the basis of Sâmkhya's
system. Albert Schweitzer, in particular as a doctor of philosophy
and theology, acknowledged the system's impressive greatness: "...a
magnificent achievement. Seldom in human thinking is a theoretical
problem recognized so clearly - and resolved with so much subtlety
...".
Certain geometric perceived lines between the stars
was considered to lead to or to form a spiritual 'star-gate'.
Spiritual celestial journey
As being shown
the yoga philosophy describes an extensive area of which just one of
these is referred to in the above-quoted 'star'-texts. Previously
the sutras in question are not seen identified separately for their
specific cosmos related themes although they were in fact extremely
important elements of the old world cultures.
Thus
the ideas about a spiritual structure of the cosmos were widespread
in the ancient societies. In addition to concepts on the World-axis
there was a learning about a whole network of these special
celestial connecting routes, star-related axes and interstellar
geometric lines of sight of special importance.
I et sådant
åndeligt-kosmisk 'pattern'-system ansås disse linjer at være som en
særlig art af lyskræfter - synlige såvel som usynlige lyspotenserede
forbindelsestråde. De kunne måske med moderne sprog betegnes som
uendelige, kæmpemæssige lyssuperstrenge (jf. desuden OvS’ artiklel
om "Pattern": - www.swedano.dk/Ove/pattern.htm ).
Dette angår også forhold i forbindelse med f.eks. Nordstjernen - som
antydet ovenfor bl.a. i Yoga Sutras III,28.
In
such a spiritual-cosmic 'pattern' system these lines were considered
to be like a particular kind of the light’s powers - visible and
invisible light potentiated connecting wires. They could, perhaps
with modern languages be described as infinite, huge light
superstrings (see also Ove von Spaeth’s 'article on "
Pattern,
Universe and Ancient Knowledge": -
www.ovs.thirax.org/Artikel-X/Ove12/index-uk.htm).
This also concerns circumstances in connection with e.g. the North
star - as suggested above such as in the Yoga Sutras III, 28.
In
another context (in Ove von Spaeth’s book, "The Secret Religion" on
the historical Moses) there is described a part of this still
somewhat unknown system The author has succeed to decode specific
references in this celestial system embedded in the New Testament’s
book "The Acts", the text of St Paul's third journey. Others have
found similar traces in Homer's Iliad and the Odyssey. All in the
context of spiritual parallel-journeys in the sky.
